Hi, my name is Michelle Makela-Belo.
When I first found out I was pregnant years ago, I knew that I wanted to continue to exercise and play the sport I love (volleyball). As a personal trainer and long time athlete, I listened to my body and did what I could to continue moving forward. My strong core and legs allowed me to only have to push for 20 minutes in labor, but afterward I suffered from hip pain, pelvic pain, pain in the pubic symphasis, and a diastasis recti that no one talked about or had very little research on.
At that point I was nearly done with my prenatal/postnatal exercise certification, but there was still a lot of information that was missing on how to help moms continue to move safely without putting themselves at risk to increase injury or pain. This is why I am passionate about helping moms. It's because of this that I've developed programs to meet the needs of moms in every stage from pregnancy into the teenage years, modifications to address pelvic floor dysfunctions, pain, and changes to the body as we go through motherhood, and even more important, a support system to push you and yet celebrate the mom that you are.
